Mushtaq Chalkoo has specialised in laparoscopy and minimal access surgery. He is currently employed in the Government Medical College Srinagar, Kashmir working as professor of surgery. He completed his MBBS from govt.medical college srinagar kashmir. He did his postgraduation from sheri-kashmir institute of medical sciences srinagar kashmir. He is a Fellow of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India and Fellow of the Indian Hernia Society, among others. He teaches MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery ) and postgraduates and is an active reviewer of many reputable international journals of medicine. He has won State Award for introducing Chalkoo technique to surgical world and is associated with more than 5 associations in India and has reviewed about 34 papers and published 65 scientific publications and attended about 103 conferences and had presented about 32 papers both at national and international level.He is editorial board member of more than 12 international surgical journals of repute. He is enrolled in world’s who is who 2015 th edition .He has been awarded with research excellence award 2021 for his research work in the field of surgery. Awarded a national patent, vide application number, 1502/DEL/2013,PATENT NUMBER 378699,on,’ The Chalkoo retractor in minilap cholecystectomy,’ by the patent office, The govt. of India on 6, OCT,2021. He is guide to seven postgraduate research scholars working with research in laparoscopic incisional hernias. laparoscopic gastrojejunostomy and laparoscopic colorectal surgeries. He has authored two books, My Expressions and Pazzer akh zheend.

Dr. chalkoo has been practising laparoscopy and minimal access surgery for last 16 years and has published threadbare in this field, His main interest is in hernias and gastrointestinal surgery.
